December 26, 1776
At around 8:00 AM, General Washington’s force attacked Colonel Johann Rall’s 1,500 man Trenton garrison. 

July 7, 1862
President Abraham Lincoln called for “300,000 more” volunteers to help put down the Rebellion. New Jersey’s quota was five regiments, and included the Eleventh, Twelfth, Thirteenth, Fourteenth and Fifteenth New Jersey regiments.

April 15, 1917
Lieutenant Commander Frederick A. Savage and three ensigns were assigned to find a location to establish a naval base at Cape May. They chose the site of the “Fun Factory,” an abandoned amusement park.

November 30, 1967: Captain Eleanor Grace Alexander, a US army nurse from River Vale, NJ was killed in an aircraft crash near Qui Nhon.

November 4, 1791: General Arthur St. Clair’s army, including a battalion recruited in NJ, met disastrous defeat by Indians in Ohio.

Company B of the 1st Separate Battalion participated in rescue operations for survivors of the Morro Castle ship fire in September 1934.
